Another party from Iași, the fourth, decided to support Marius Bodea in his race for Mayor.
The Green-Green party believes that the best solution for the city to get rid of Mihai Chirica, sent to court in three criminal cases, is for the opposition to be united around a single candidate.
„The legislation in Romania, made by PSD and PNL, provides for only one round of voting in local elections. Almost 90% of incumbent mayors are re-elected regardless of whether they are thieves and incompetent. As is the mayor of Iași.
This is how we arrived at the anomaly of having an alderman elected by only 11% of the citizens of Iași with the right to vote.
The votes are split between the candidates, and the best-placed one does not get to defeat him, because there is no second round, where he would take over the change vote from the others”, explained Victor Chirilă, Co-President of the Green-Green Party (branch Iași county) why did they go for this option.

The formation thus joins USR, PMP and Forța Dreptei to support the candidacy of Marius Bodea for Iași City Hall.
The Green Party believes that individual pride is pointless, when the stake is the future of Iași and the people of Iași.
„We really want to change this city. We know that while we have very competent people, they don’t have the notoriety to defeat an incumbent mayor with a huge propaganda machine.
And without huge notoriety you can’t win, that’s politics. We thus decided to support in the local elections the candidate with the best chances, real chances, to defeat the current mayor.
This is definitely Marius Bodea, according to our surveys. The next candidates announced by other big or pocket parties are at least 15 percent behind him, impossible to recover.

„We live in the most polluted city in Romania. They are official data presented by the European Commission itself. We are really poisoned daily.
I arrived here because the real estate affairs of Mihai Chirica’s chamber were important in Iași City Hall, at the expense of traffic solutions, parks and our health.
We are lied to that Iasi is a green city. In reality, instead of 26 square meters, the minimum mandatory norm, we only have 16 square meters.
Next, there are diesel buses and City Hall machines that drown you in smoke.
We also surpassed Bucharest in terms of traffic jams and pollution. Traffic jams mean pollution.
Mihai Chirica’s city hall never had a plan to preserve green spaces and create new ones.

Marius Bodea stopped real estate cannons that eliminated green spaces
Marius Bodea is the only one of all the candidates who has fought for the problems of Iași for many years, the representatives of the formation explain.

It has brave solutions, already successfully tested in other countries, about ecological public transport.
We also saw his plan to phase out coal for district heating in the city and switch to green solutions.

The candidate of the United Right Alliance at the Iași City Hall thanked the representatives of the Green-Green Party for their support.

These people didn’t ask for anything in return, they don’t want personal promises, they don’t want positions, they simply want to give this city a chance.

I did not appear like others like a bright comet now, around the elections. I am not one of those who suddenly declares their concern for the people of Iași, after in recent years they have only spent holidays abroad or in taverns in Bucharest.

The candidate of the United Dreapta Unită Alliance for the Iași City Hall, for his part, called for wisdom from the opposition, but also from the voters in Iași, in order to defeat the powerful real estate mafia around Chirica.
